Pop-Up Art at Hay Festival:

Hay Castle in Hay-on-Wye will be letting space on the castle grounds during Hay Festival (31 May - 10 June 2012), which might be perfect for artists who want to show and sell their work.  Hay Literary Festival draws over 100,000 visitors and Hay Castle, in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, will be the site of music events and a food fair.  There are a few outbuildings (next to Baines and Murrin, the Olde Curiosity Shoppe and Castle Books) which may be available for between £300 and £500 for the ten-day period.  We welcome enquiries from local artisans or crafters of quality works.

For more information, contact Nancy Lavin Albert at haycastletrust@gmail.com or call 01497 831 012.

Fine Art Printmaking:

If you have ever thought about trying your hand at Fine Art Printmaking, or if you have a rusty knowledge that needs refreshing, Sidney Nolan Trust are running a series of affordable introductory workshops at The Rodd through the Spring aimed at giving you hands-on experience of using an etching press and making your own print[s] to take home and frame.

Sunday 26 February, 10am-4pm: Intaglio Printmaking - get to grips with traditional and contemporary methods of making fine art prints.

Saturday 3 March, 10-4pm: Intaglio Colour Inking - follow-on session to find out how to make intaglio prints in colour.

Saturday 24 March, 10am-4pm: Collagraph Printmaking - a modern printmaking technique that is wonderfully flexible and can enable those with little or no experience to create sophisticated effects.

Sunday 1 April, 10am-4pm: Embossed Prints - Printmaking tutor Mike Clements will show participants how to make stunning three-dimensional prints using little or no ink. Embossing can be used to make stunning prints and is also well suited for making artist's books.
